Bird island Overnight Diving I have had several of my diving friends that have been diving all over the world talk with me on the way back from bird Island saying I was right when I said it was one of most memorial diving experiences. The reason is of the 4,000 plus seals and sea lions on the island literally dozens of them will be swimming right next to you and you do not have to be afraid. They will swim between your legs come right up to your mask and when you put your hand up they will back up. On land these animals can be territorial but in the water their abilities to maneuver are 100 times greater than yours and so you are not perceived as a threat to them. Out of the thousands of encounters between divers and seals and sea lions in water here no one has ever been molested. Below is a beautiful scene on & to & from the Eco Viewing Platform
